Carolina Panther Fullback, Brad Hoover grew up just an hour or so north of Bank of America Stadium in Thomasville, NC. Coming out of high school, none of the so-called big-name schools offered a scholarship, so he excelled at Western Carolina instead. The 2000 NFL draft came and went without his name being called.  Determined to make an NFL roster, Brad signed with the Panthers as an un-drafted free agent in April of 2000. Nine years later, he is still delivering shots to opposing linebackers. He was named to the Panthers 10-year Anniversary team by the fans. He is blessed with a cheery outlook and a name that invites a popular cheer. When he carries the ball at Bank of America Stadium, the fans aren't saying, "Boo." They are saying, "Hoov!"

Recent News:

December 31, 2009 - Brad Hoover was named as the first recipient of the Professional Football Writer's of America Tom Berry Good Guy Award! The award is in Honor of Tom Berry who was a columnist for the High Point Enterprise and covered football for many years. He wrote about Brad for many years from Brad's time at Ledford High School in Thomasville, NC; to Western Carolina and to Brad's professional career with the Panthers. A fitting award to a player whom many fans look up to in the Panthers organization as a truly good guy!

Recap from Brad on the First Quarter of the 2009 Season:

The 1st 3 games of the season did not go as expected. Going into the 1st 3 games we expected to have our work cut out for us. Each of the 3 teams were very good football teams but our performance in every phase has not met expectations. We would have hoped to have had at least one win heading into week 4 (bye week), unfortunately we are winless heading into week 5 against an inconsistent Washington Redskins team. The bye could not have come at a better time for our team. Our team is pretty banged up, including myself. The bye gave us time to catch our breath, get healthy and refocus to get a victory and get back on track. We hope the next quarter will bring our team and our fans better results and confidence.
